Dr. Bours and Joan Moss

Dr. Peter Bours is recognized as one of America’s best abortion doctors. Dr. Bours graduated from Stanford University in 1966 and received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1970. He practiced as a board certified family physician for many years but is now limiting his practice to family planning.

Ms. Moss graduated from San Francisco State University in 1969 and received her BS in nursing from the University of California San Francisco in 1972. She later returned to school and in 1992 received her Master's Degree in nursing from Oregon Health & Science University and became a nurse practitioner in women's health care.

The couple has been working together since 1975 and have been married since 1977. They began their practice as a doctor-nurse homebirth team and later had a birth center at their Forest Grove office. In 1976, they also began offering abortions. They believed strongly, and still believe, that the decision to terminate a pregnancy is a moral and responsible choice, and that women choosing to have an abortion deserve compassionate care.

Bours Health Center is a member of the National Abortion Federation, and Dr. Bours served on the board for six years.

Dr. Bours has been providing therapeutic abortions and vasectomies since 1976. All procedures at all three offices are performed by Dr. Bours.
