Dear Dr. Bours and Staff,

This is such a heart-felt letter of thanks for your excellent service and health care twice now in 2008 and 2009 at your Eugene office. I never imagined that I would have not only one, but two unintended pregnancies in my forties. Carrying them was not an option and I started to research my options into Oregon abortion care. I heavily researched everything from medical to surgical abortions; to what providers would be the best in my more high-risk age group and previous health problems. In reading, it became very clear that the Dr. Bours clinics throughout Oregon were not only price comparable, but a cut above, which I would physically discover first hand.

I arrived after a few hours drive and was only asked to wait in the waiting room for 10 minutes at best both appointments. Next came a urine sample and meeting of two different assistants/nurses who were both incredibly wonderful. They took a thorough health history. Each of them was a very compassionate and caring woman who saw me as both body and soul. Then came an ultrasound performed by Dr. Bours to confirm and date the pregnancy, when I also had the opportunity to meet him and ask him questions. After that, I and my partner were taken into another room where I undressed and got on the exam table. Dr. Bours inserted into my hand vein a calming medication which really helped.

Both procedures were so effortless and painless I didn't even realize when they ended. Both assistants held my feet or hand, while giving my partner a close up and face place. I worried about and expected terrible pain, but never felt it. While, yes, cramping did come in later that evening, it was bearable and ok. I also had comfort in taking the prescribed antibiotics to ward off any kind of infection. We also were given 24/7 phone number and made to know that if we didn't feel good for any reason, to call and the doctor would be available to us. I am pleased to say I never needed it.

Dr. Bours, thank you from my depths. You're compassionate, caring and someone I wish were my regular OB/GYN. My experiences were marvelous and I do know I'm in the minority in that. I wish every woman needing an abortion could personally see you.
